Sunday Stash

Hi folks,

 I haven't really been around much lately. We are taking in a troubled eleven year old right in the midst of building a new house. It's going to be extremely cramped around here for the next few months and all I can do is hope that the builders work really hard and get our house done quickly.

Anyway, since my fabric is mostly packed away I haven't been able to participate in Sunday Stash. I did order some prints from Cia's though so figured I could join in this weekend.

It's pretty much all Heather Ross prints I didn't have that I wanted to use for my HR coin quilt.

I still have a couple more packages I am waiting on before I can start on it.

Since I am on a HR roll here are the Munki Munki pieces I have managed to swap this week. I have a couple more in the mail and am really trying to be patient for them to get here. I wish I had known about this fabric before it became discontinued. I love every single print.

I should be back to regular posting and visiting everyone's blogs/flickr photos now. It's not that I haven't been creating anything, I just haven't felt like blogging or being online lately. Maybe it's just summer getting to me. I'll try and post the new bag I made tomorrow. I used the phoebe bag pattern from here and really like how it came out. It was for someone else but I am thinking of making another one for me. :)

Sunday Stash (Birthday Edition)

I should be working on one of my 3 reports due Monday now instead of blogging. However, I felt a blog post to thank all the wonderful people that sent me birthday goods was necessary.

Even though it's Saturday I figured I could use this for a Sunday Stash too since most of it is fabric....a rather long Sunday Stash that is. Anyway above is what Trish sent me for my birthday and a swap we did. I sent her some Chocolate Lollipop and I received the most cutest Japanese fabric ever. Plus this adorable fairytale notepad and mushroom deco tape.

Here are some of the Japanese prints. She said she got them all from Etsy sellers.















Aren't they wonderful. I am envisioning many patchwork projects out of them. Trish (pinkpaisley on Flickr) is a wonderful swap partner. I know she is extremely busy right now but once she starts swapping again should you get the chance, take it!! You will not be disappointed. 

Even though I have been away from blogging and sewing these past few weeks, I still managed to squeeze in some fabric shopping of my own.

Here are a couple prints from Waechter's fabric shop which has moved right down the road from my work!! As exciting as it seems I am a bit scared because I could do some serious damage to my bank account by shopping in that store.
They have Japanese prints, Amy Butler, and Tina Givens which are so hard to find. Not to mention a million patterns and buttons.



I also did some shopping at  Equilter & Mary Jos.

I wish they would update their website and actually let you purchase products on there. They sell some really awesome stuff for your home and office.

Star Lamps from Chevron Beads in downtown Asheville.



These were just the display in the window of the store. They are made of hand punched paper and are sold in these little triangle boxes. I haven't even put mine together yet because I am waiting until we move. Mine are all different shades of blue.




Photo of birthday/swap loot for the past month. Loads of fabric, buttons, Artful Blogging Summer 2009 edition from JB. Plus Patchwork Style, the Japanese craft book translated in English!! I also got Pretty Little Cozies from Eryn which was on my wish list for awhile.

I haven't had time to read any of my new magazines and books yet, but skimming through they look wonderful. I'll do some reviews when I come back in a few weeks.

I hope all you mom's out there have a wonderful Mother's Day tomorrow. I got my mom some lovely stationary from Ginko Papers and hopefully I can figure out this kit I bought from U-Handbag and include that with it. I am not using the fabric that was included in it though. I am thinking of using My Folklore instead since the colors of the fabric it came with are not her style.

Sunday Stash

Japanese fabrics.



I cannot decide what it is about Japanese fabric that makes me so happy.
Is it the colors? Or the illustrations on them? Is it because they are hard to find, expensive, and usually must  be imported from over seas?

The only thing I can definitely say is that they are super cute and always distinguishable from fabric made in America. I think Jay McCarroll has come the closest to kawaii fabric design over here. In fact I may feature Woodland Wonderland in next weeks "stash".

Sunday Stash

While I am fully aware it is only Saturday I figured I could just do my Sunday Stash tonight since I started cutting into the fabric I was going to use. See...Sunday Stash makes me dig into the depths of my cabinet to find some long forgotten fabric which I then miraculously know what do with.

So without further adieu here is my Posh by Chez Moi collection.



yeah It's a small stash I know but it doesn't take that much fabric to make a buttercup bag.



Yes...I am talking about that buttercup bag I have already cut out 2 different bags for and  have yet to sew them together.



I don't know what is going on with me lately. I keep cutting out new projects without finishing the last one.
I think I have about 6 things going on right now.



Anyway, maybe this weekend I can at least finish one of them to post on here.

I love the cute little patterns on this collection and can't wait for her Red Letter Day line to come out. I have almost used this fat quarter bundle up though with my project I have been working on this weekend. Hopefully I'll be done with it by the end of today for a post.

Sunday Stash

I am not an orange person by all means. This may be the only orange print I have (except for reproduction vintage prints) but I really like it.
Maybe it's the gray bits that break up the unappealing carrot look.
Anyway if you are an orange lover and want to know what this fabric is, it's "Sweet Pea" by MOE3 (Jackie Shapiro).
It will make a great springtime bag from the Buttercup pattern I have started with the help from the ever so wonderful Alissa. I was having issues printing out that pattern so big hugs and thanks to her.  :)
 I may just be going to Florida with a new bag and quilt.

My pink Hobby Lobby prints from Brother Sister Design Studio. I wanted to show more of the fabric I have from there but the rest of it is in storage so I can't get a photo. I have these two still out because I have been wanting to make something with them soon. I was thinking maybe a bag but it may be a little too pink for me. Perhaps in spring I will change my mind.

Sunday Stash 5/52

New "My Folklore" from BeeSquare.
I absolutely love this line but can't figure out what to make with it. I was thinking of saving it for maybe a quilt or something, it's just so hard to find coordinating fabrics to go with it.
Maybe if I bought solids for a change I would have what I needed.

Another charm pack/Moda filled Sunday

After Fridays failed fabric spree Pam, JB, and I decided to head out to Hendersonville to check out the new fabric shops. The first one was good but small. The second one  however, was awesome. They had such a great charm pack selection. I couldn't believe they still had some Daydreams and Urban Couture there. I also got some Woodland Bloom fat quarters for some pouches I was hoping to make yesterday. That didn't happen though because someone might be buying our house so we had to pack up everything to make it look nice when they stop by today. Most of my fabric is now in storage and it's so depressing. I guess I'll know in the next day if we are moving or staying. If we are staying the fabric will be coming right back out.  :)
