I'm slowly catching up on these blocks. I need to take some photos soon of them and my new quilt project I'm working on for here (if you aren't following me on Instagram).
Hey Everyone! Sorry I've been away Emma had the flu :(
Anyway just wanted to remind everyone the Moda Sampler Block Shuffle has begun!
A lot of shops are participating in this and if you haven't seen it yet I'll be posting the block patterns here too. :) I"m late and hopefully will be starting later today but here are the first 3 blocks you can download:
These are great for mini charm packs or leftover jelly roll strips.
Here is the (approximate) schedule of which I'll be posting the blocks on here. Since I am behind because of Emma being ill, blocks 4-6 will be posted tomorrow.
As you all know my favorite pre-cut is the jelly roll (or 2.5inch strips). It's affordable and you get a complete collection in it. A lot of people don't know what to do with jelly rolls though so I thought for November I would dedicate the month to these cute little guys. I have plenty of sources on patterns for them I'll share the next few weeks.
I had Background Modern Ink and Canyon Jelly Rolls I wanted a quilt out of so I decided to make a plus quilt. I didn't really find anything on Google for measurements and some people asked me on Instagram so I figured I'd do a somewhat tutorial below. :)
You will need ONE Jelly Roll for the background of the blocks and only 15 jelly roll strips for the pluses. This is great if you have left over strips from another project or even scraps. Here are the measurements for 1 block. You will use ONE background strip for each block.
In the end you will have 40 plus blocks
I'm assuming anyone reading this knows how to sew the pieces together to make this block. If not let me know in the comments and I can add a couple more photos in here.
If you want yours exactly like this I did 6 rows of 6 leaving 4 plus blocks left over which I used for corner pieces with a border to make it BIG!
Now for some close up photos and my horrible quilting job.
I did use some other Canyon strips for a scrappy binding. This one is my favorite:
If you make one of these and are on Instagram please hashtag it #jellyplusquilt so I can see. I'm curious to do one with a more colorful background and maybe solid pluses? Also I never really have done a tutorial before so if you are new to quilting and this makes absolutely no sense let me know. You can always email me at staciLF at gmail dot com :)
